Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Planners parties.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
